L3_S16_ Compound Words
A compound word is where two or more root words
are merged into a new and different word. There are three different kinds of
compound: open, closed, and hyphenated compound words.
Open compound words are written with spaces
between the individual words.
Closed compound words are written without
hyphens or spaces.
Hyphenated compound words are written with
hyphens connecting the words.
Examples
Open compound word- Ice Cream, Living Room, Full
moon
Closed compound word- Notebook, Postbox, Breakfast
Hyphenated compound word- Check-in, Father-in-law,
Good-hearted

1. Circle the compound sentences in the given
sentences.
